Exchange of research, education and experience between patient and science.
Science Alliance has developed a concept allowing scientists and patients to share their research, education and experience: ‘Wetenschap voor Patiënten’ (Science for patients). The project is due to start at the end of 2010. The project Wetenschap voor Patiënten involves the development of a communication system through which scientific (medical) knowledge can be communicated to patients in a clear and understandable way, using web lectures, and the patient can share his experiences with the scientists. Patients’ Associations, medical centres, scientists and specialists will work together to realise this project. Therefore, the project is based on mutual cooperation between patients and scientists in order to improve health(care). This system of communication serves as a ‘bridge’ between science and the patient. Patients are not only informed about the latest scientific developments, but they are also actively involved in ongoing research and may influence various aspects of the research. The various parties can use the communication system ‘Wetenschap voor Patiënten’ to improve coordination of research and healthcare and thus positively affect patient satisfaction. The project has been designed in collaboration with the MS Vereniging Nederland (MSVN), the ME/CVS Vereniging, the Vereniging Osteogenesis Imperfecta (VOI), the Reumapatiëntenbond, the Nederlandse Hypofyse Stichting en the Nederlandse Federatie voor Kankerpatiënten (NFK). The project is supported by the Chronisch zieken en Gehandicapten Raad Nederland (CG-Raad).
‘In de Diepte’ & ‘Op de Hoogte’ will be starting again!
With the start of the school year 2010-2011 we will be launching our projects ‘In de Diepte’ & ‘Op de Hoogte’! “In de Diepte” brings secondary school teachers and Deans up to date with recent and inspiring developments in their field, and helps them to develop ways of transferring this knowledge to their students. Havo and VWO students can follow ‘Op de Hoogte’; an afternoon in which lectures are given by both a renowned scientist and a successful business manager, following which the class undertakes a practical excursions at a different location. For more information please check the Science Communication Unit (Wetenschapscommunicatie) on this website, or download the brochure here (only in Dutch).
