DCTF Annual conference 2010 unrivaled success

With a record number of 203 subscriptions, representing all the mayor stakeholders in the field of clinical research, the fourth annual conference of the Dutch Clinical Trial Foundation was a great success. The conference was under supervision of the chairman Niek Klazinga. He confirmed the importance of transparency in clinical research in his welcome speech and provided the audience with a short symmary of the conference day that was to follow.

The central theme this year was transparency within clinical research. The development of innovative drugs is getting ever more complex and thus demands for streamlined processes. To understand this complexity and these processes, transparancy is essential. In the plenary session speakers from different fields of expertise acknowledged the importance of transparency. The subsessions were focussed on central themes within transparency: patientparticipation, risk mangement and benchmarking. The goal of the debate was to collect insights gained during the day and to use these to come up with a plan how transparent trials should be designed.
