Paul Vulto received his Ph.D. degree in Microsystems Engineering from the University of Freiburg, Germany. Paul specialized in Lab-on-a-Chip technology, a multidisciplinary field bridging the gap between micro- and biotechnology. During his academic career, Paul wrote two international patent applications and numerous scientific contributions. His work is currently being commercialized by the Swiss high-tech venture, Ayanda Biosystems, of which Paul is Scientific Advisor. Prior to his Ph.D, Paul held positions within the Italian high-tech company Silicon Biosystems and the Netherlands Office for Science and Technology in Tokyo, Japan. He completed his master’s degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Twente, with a major in Biomedical Engineering. He followed a minor in East and Central European History at Charles University in Prague.

Ying Ying Lau received a M.Sc. degree with honours in Industrial Design Engineering from Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands, with special interest for healthcare and sustainable development. Additionally, she holds a B.A. degree in Chinese Studies from Leiden University, the Netherlands, and has studied at Peking University (Beijing, China). She has worked at Gold Peak Industries (Hong Kong) and at the Netherlands Office for Science and Technology (Tokyo, Japan). At the latter, she worked as a researcher and her report on healthcare robotics in Japan has been published in collaboration with the Rathenau Instituut (the Netherlands). Currently, Ying Ying Lau works at Science Alliance and is responsible for the management of The Technopolicy Network as well as the organization of its events.

Patty Vleugels is studying management, economics and law at The Hague university. She is very interested in the English language and improving education at The Hague university. She has been part of a talent development project called tutoring at the Hague university for two years and recently received certificates for her work as a tutor and senior- tutor. Patty is currently working as a project assistant at the unit Regional Innovation. She has a supporting role in the organization of events and in producing promotional materials.
